March 21, 2007Deciding which are best
March 20, 2007In an attempt to narrow the field of possible trades I am thinking the put option should be no more than say twice the daily ATR(14) for a 60 day option. Then some declining scale for longer options. My first thought was the APC 40 put for 2.60 (with the ATR at 1 point) was too expensive but it is an AUG Put so maybe I will be OK. The rest of the Put options fit well within the formula. We shall see.
The Big Change Over
March 20, 2007I am changing ……..after years of day trading everything from Pork bellies (use to be the hot thing) to stocks I am converting to longer term swing trading. Takes less time, less stress, more fishing and traveling. Buying low, looking for dips and trying to ride them for weeks or months is my new deal. The entries will be protected with puts for the beginning of the trades.
Not sure I have all the details worked out so will start out slow. I want to test the water a bit while I keep working on narrowing down the stock confirmations and making sure I understand how the puts will relate over time.
MMM @ 75.63
DELL @ 22.35
SBUX @ 30.31
APC @ 39.90
ABI @ 30.00…this looks a bit risky, maybe early, so I bought 1/3 more puts.

Cash in Your Phone
March 18, 2007What keeps anybody from starting a cash card? You give me the money, I issue you a card that draws the money from the account. Don’t have to be a bank or a credit card company.
What keeps me from selling cash for you to install in your mobile phone?
Maps with an overlay of the mobile phones in an area show the density of people and their movement. An over lay of a city shows where everybody is and how they are moving about. The Economist even brings up the idea that countries interested in tourism can see which countries visitors spend the day lying on the beach and which ones are in town spending money. Then advertise more in the countries with the higher spenders. M.I.T. appears to have the lead in this technology and is testing it in Rome.
The phone is becoming:
Credit card, carries your cash, your identity, security, ability to make contact, music, access to the WEB and all it’s knowledge so we will say knowledge base, locater (of you or who you are looking for), civic planner……
Cognitive Dissonance.
